What is this?
We are the Austin Typewriter Poets Collective - a group of poets who have busked for years on the streets of Austin and beyond, armed with antique typewriters and the ability to create extemporaneous poetry.
We have been booked for a wide array of events, including fundraisers (Pease Park Conservancy), galas (Texas Book Festival), weddings, private parties, and more.

How does it work?
We set our typewriters up. We dress sharp. Curious guests approach and we ask them for a topic. Then we improvise a poem based on that topic (generally within 2 to 3 minutes) and read it to them. We then give them the poem to take home.
We’ve written thousands of poems for thousands of strangers. People are invariably charmed by the experience and are thrilled to take a bespoke, typewritten poem home. Try to give us a topic we’ve never gotten before! I dare you.
We have a roster of local poets available. Most events book 2 - 3 poets, but we’ve gone as low as one and as high as five. All our poets are great writers and conduct themselves professionally and respectfully.
